Beachboys/In My Room/Lyrics

There's a world where I can go and tell my secrets to
In my room
In my room

In this world I lock out all my worries and my fears
In my room
In my room

Do my dreaming and my scheming lie awake and pray
Do my crying and my sighing laugh at yesterday

Now it's dark and I'm alone but I won't be afraid
In my room
In my room

My Mother

Looking back it's plain to see, the plans my mother had for me. She fed me, clothed me, kept me safe from harm then tucked me in where I was warm.
My mother was much more than that, always careful to lead me down the proper path. She was a pattern cut out for me so I became one for my three.
This shows the way God had it planned, our parents to guide us through this land. Many times a child is lost, when parents fail to count the costs.
Thank you Mom I understand, you took the time to hold my hand. Such a selfless act you showed to choose to walk me down the road.

My Trophy

Every girl should have what I call a trophy boyfriend.
I had one my sophomore year of high school and his name was Franky.
He was a junior and a big time football player and I was a cheerleader.
He attended another high school which was our biggest rival.
I was so proud, that I wore his letter jacket to our school.
Looking back, I had to have been either brave or stupid!
The attention I got for wearing that jacket was tremendous. Did I care? No.
He was beautiful and it was worth it!
Back then I had an 8 track beach boys tape and I remember listening
to it while Franky had gone to Panama City and all I did was sit and wait for him to return. Needless to say, everytime I hear a beachboy's song, my mind immediately goes to that time in my life. As soon as he got back home from the beach, my phone rang and I remember how excited I felt when my mom handed me the phone. I had been waiting on his call which seemed like forever. He told me he missed me and he wanted to see me.
He was big and tall and very sweet to me. When he would kiss me goodnight, he would have to step down two steps on our front porch just so he could reach me. He smelled soooo good. I remember his cologne was on his letter jacket and I would put it up to my face sometimes just so I could smell it. To this day I remember his cologne.
He is a great memory. A memory of high school and dating the way it should be. No it didn't last forever nor was it meant to. He was a big fish in a big pond, but I wouldn't trade anything for his memory, it is timeless. I am sure he doesn't even know that someone somewhere thinks about him with such fondness the way I do. Thank you Franky. 1975-1976

Snow

I like it in the winter when the snow is on the ground.
I like to go outside and see it twirling round and
all the snow is pretty and nice and cool too!
I like the winter best but I like the others too.

This Is For You

This is for you I'd like you to know, that my heart is still with you wherever you go.
I promised to God to be your best friend, though often I failed you time and again.
Still in my heart I hold onto my vow and lean toward the future not knowing just how,
to accept your absence each passing day and know that true happiness is surely on the way.
So I write this for you as the Lord guides my pen, please always remember......
my love has no end.
Summer
I sit out on my porch swing on a lazy summer day.
Nothing much to do outside, it's much too hot to play.
The air is warm just to breathe, the leaves they barely move.
Everything is quiet outside except the soft dove's coo.
Summer is a simple time, you catch fireflies in a jar.
You take a bath, you say your prayers, then look up at the
stars.
